On Tuesday (June 3), Dropkick Murphys announced that their new album, For the People, will be released on July 4. The Boston punk band also shared their lead single, “Who’ll Stand with Us?, along with a Jon Vulpine-directed music video. The album closer, “One Last Goodbye”, is a tribute to Shane MacGowan, late singer of The Pogues, while “The Vultures Circle High” features longtime Dropkick Murphys co-vocalist Al Barr, who has been on leave from the band while tending to a family issue. “Al is still taking time off for family,” says singer Ken Casey. “But he’s still part of our family, so we thought it would be nice to have his voice on this record.” For the People also includes special guest contributions from Billy Bragg, the Mary Wallopers, and the Scratch. Dropkick Murphys will perform at the “Unite for Veterans, Unite for America” rally in Washington, D.C. on Friday (June 6), and will embark on a co-headlining US tour with Bad Religion in July.
